About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Works is seeking an experienced carpenter to work alongside other craftspeople creating furniture, fixtures, and signage for new locations. Products are fabricated in the company’s workshop on the North Side of Chicago. The role is based onsite at the Support Center, Rockwell, and reports to the Director, Production & Construction Services. It is a full-time, nonexempt specialist position in the Development function. Travel is rare, with occasional trips for repairs, installations, and deliveries. Requirements

• Minimum high school degree.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with most bench and power tools.
• Must provide own hand tools.
• Must be neat and organized.
• Must be a self-starter who can work well with others and independently.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the company.
• Must demonstrate leadership behaviors and values aligned with Potbelly.
• Ability and stamina to work 45 to 55 hours per week.
• Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours per day and frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, and carry.
• Ability to engage in problem-solving to identify and address potential issues.

Responsibilities

• Measure and cut materials for cabinets, tables, and other restaurant fixtures.
• Assemble cabinets, furniture, and fixtures.
• Operate an edge bander and trim finished panels.
• Assist with paint preparation and finishing.
• Travel occasionally for repairs, installations, and deliveries.
• Maintain the shop and equipment.
• Assist with general maintenance, shipping, and receiving, including building crates and repairing tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
