We are looking for a versatile and high-performing Carpenter to join our construction team. This position is open to professionals who hold or are looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE). As a cornerstone of the job site, you will be responsible for everything from initial layout to final trim. Whether you are a seasoned Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in the final stages of your training, you will be expected to work to the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), ensuring all structures are built with the safety, integrity, and precision that the Canadian national standard demands.

Requirements

  • Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of the National Building Code (NBC) and the ability to read complex architectural and structural drawings.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in all weather conditions, perform heavy lifting (25kg+), and work comfortably at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Mathematical Competency: Mastery of trade math, including geometry, volume calculations, and trigonometry for complex roof and stair layouts.
  • Tools: Possession of a comprehensive set of professional hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Site Layout & Foundations: Interpret blueprints and building codes to establish layouts. Assist in the construction of footing and wall forms, and the installation of anchor bolts and reinforcing steel.
  • Framing: Construct floor, wall, and roof systems using engineered wood products, dimensional lumber, and heavy timber. Master the layout of stairs and rafters.
  • Building Envelope: Install windows, exterior doors, and various siding systems. Ensure proper application of air and vapour barriers to meet modern energy-efficiency standards.
  • Interior & Exterior Finishing: Install interior doors, baseboards, casings, and cabinetry. Execute high-end finishing work including crown moulding and custom built-ins.
  • Renovation & Restoration: Perform structural repairs and modifications to existing buildings while maintaining structural integrity.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all provincial OH&S regulations. Ensure the safe operation of all power tools, powder-actuated tools, and fall-protection equipment.
  • Mentorship: If certified, supervise and train junior apprentices. If finishing requirements, maintain your logbook and work with our Journeypersons to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) like roof framing and complex stair builds.

Benefits

  • The Path to Completion: For those finishing their RSE, we offer the diverse experience across all scopes of carpentry—from concrete to finishing—required to pass the Interprovincial Exam.
  • Competitive Compensation: Wages that reflect your status as a nationally recognized professional.
  • National Mobility: The security of a credential that allows you to work on any residential, commercial, or industrial site from coast to coast.
