About The Position

The Journeyperson Carpenter supports the construction of highly energy-efficient homes using sustainable materials. This role involves framing and assembling wall panels and structural components in a fast-paced production facility, while ensuring high-quality workmanship, safe work practices, and adherence to drawings and specifications. This position reports directly to the Factory Forepersons directed by the Plant Manager. The Weekend Shift is a condensed work schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12 hours per day. Employees who complete all three full shifts receive 40 paid hours for the weekend.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably in a panelized construction or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans.
  • Solid understanding of framing techniques and structural requirements.
  • Ability to handle construction materials safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute precise framing tasks within a panelized factory environment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
  • Proficiently read and interpret construction plans to effectively carry out framing tasks and ensure the structural integrity of panels.
  • Safely handle and organize construction materials, including lumber and engineered wood products, to optimize efficiency in the framing process.
  • Conduct thorough quality control inspections on completed panels, identifying and addressing any discrepancies to maintain high standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, including Designers and Engineers, to ensure seamless integration of framing components into the panelized construction process.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a secure working environment for yourself and team members.
  • Focus on maintaining high levels of efficiency and productivity in the carpentry process to contribute to the overall success of the panelized construction projects.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Inspect work and ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with building codes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
