About The Position

John Grace Restoration and Construction has been West Michigan’s choice for emergency services and restoration repairs following property damage for over 10 years. We help homeowners recover from water, fire/smoke, storm, flood, and mold damage. Our staff are experts in the insurance claim process, working in the customer’s best interest and guiding them through the claim process. John Grace staff are highly trained in mitigating loss, scoping/estimating repairs, and ensuring timely and high-quality repair work. We take our role very seriously because we know how devastating the loss can be to customers. As a Carpenter, you will take ownership of helping to restore homes for the communities we serve. We’re looking for someone who is committed to being a team player, has great communication skills and has a desire to grow their carpentry skills.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of on-job experience in a verifiable construction role.
  • Ability to function in a high stress environment that can change daily.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check to perform work on insurance related claims.
  • Basic knowledge of smartphone/email technology.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction and job-site safety.
  • Learn framing, trim/cabinets/door, windows, exterior finishes, finish carpentry etc.
  • Work on jobsites daily and always maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to team members.
  • Work with the Project Manager to complete approved scope of work and communicate any changes or issues.
