About The Position

The Carpenter supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project needs. They will measure, cut, shape, and join wood, plastic, drywall, and other building materials. Responsibilities include performing rough carpentry, such as framing walls, partitions, floor systems, and roof structures, as well as finish carpentry, such as hanging doors, installing windows, molding, cabinets, and hardware. The role also involves furniture systems demolition, installation, removal, and reconfiguration, carpet and cove base replacements, and ceiling grid repair/reconfiguration. The candidate will track and update work orders in a Windows-based system and perform other assigned tasks such as occasional escorting of subcontractors and suppliers, and assisting facility operations and maintenance as required.

Requirements

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project needs.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as work independently
  • Strong ability to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and maintain accurate drawing redlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members
  • 8, or more, years of experience with common carpentry tasks and tools
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance
