About The Position

Under general supervision, the Carpenter provides skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter. The role performs construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance work on new and existing buildings and related structures, and assists other trades as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction or repair.
• Ability to install and repair equipment and select appropriate equipment to complete jobs.
• Knowledge of repairing VCT or ceramic floor tiles.
• Knowledge of industrial roof repairs.
• Knowledge of installing, waterproofing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal or lead flashing.
• Extensive knowledge of operating and caring for associated large and small power equipment and hand tools.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately read blueprints.
• Ability to comply with safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Complete carpentry work in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of new and existing buildings and structures, including floors, roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, ceiling tiles, and restroom partitions.
• Locate, seal, and repair leaks and transitions, and maintain records of repairs and their locations.
• Operate power saws, planers, jointers, hand tools, and other equipment.
• Select wood, cut it to size, and sand surfaces.
• Clean, sharpen, and repair hand tools, bench tools, saws, and other equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Assist with estimates of time and materials required for jobs.
• Assist other trades as needed, including plumbing and electrical.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
