About The Position

The carpenter performs construction remodels and general maintenance tasks on buildings, requiring practical skills and knowledge in trades such as carpentry, mechanical work, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and masonry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 10 years of experience in commercial building trades in such areas as general carpentry, rough carpentry, door installation, and interior systems.
  • Experienced in all commercial and federal building construction with safety and code compliance.
  • Basic computer skills, Outlook, Teams, and Timesheet entry.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, and construction documents and plans.
  • Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and layout tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and amicably with co-workers, and other people (Supervisor, Subordinates, Supplies, Customers).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to hear and speak, to communicate in person and over the telephone and/or radio.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Possess basic problem-solving and math skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and acceptable driving record in the state of employment.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
  • Must possess own hand tools and basic power tools as required for carpentry
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) per contract.
  • Must complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled carpentry work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of structures and fixtures in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and other materials (e.g., drywall, plywood, laminates, light-gauge metal framing). Install and repair doors, windows, framing, cabinetry, siding, flooring, and interior/exterior trim.
  • Construct and repair frameworks, partitions, and structural components as required.
  • Perform demolition and removal of damaged or obsolete materials in preparation for repairs or new construction.
  • Other Duties as assigned
