About The Position

Performs a variety of tasks in support of the production teams projects involving carpentry and other skilled labor. Fabricate, construct, and repair structural woodwork and wood products by following blueprints, drawing, and instructions, using carpentry tools and equipment. Provides support to other in-house trades. Provide support to onsite Superintendent and Foreman.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years experience in rough and finish carpentry at a residential construction company, preferably in upscale/luxury construction, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors/laborers to their understanding
  • Able to provide legible written and verbal communication
  • Possess an understanding of residential construction practices
  • Knowledge of related tools, techniques, equipment, and materials
  • Able to see details at close range (within a few feet)
  • Ability to work independently or with little direction
  • Demonstrate experience and passion for client satisfaction
  • Good team attitude and flexible to do a variety of tasks with a sense of urgency
  • Able to perform physically demanding work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Have necessary tools to complete assignments both rough and finish
  • Must have reliable transportation that can transport tools and materials safely between jobsites.
  • Able to enforce Allen Construction standards, policies, and procedures
  • Able to prioritize and organize work assignments and followup as necessary to meet deadline and achieve desired results

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years progressive construction experience, preferably in upscale/luxury construction
  • Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish
  • Ability to read plans, understand and interpret building codes
  • Basic knowledge/skills in a variety trades

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces prior to beginning of work
  • Shape and cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
  • Lay out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels
  • Determine work requirements and sequence of assignments through review of work orders, plans, or drawings
  • Determine material requirements and dimensions of structure to be fabricated by studying blueprints, sketches, or building plans
  • Fabricate, alter, and maintain walls, stairs, frameworks, floors, and other related structures or surfaces
  • Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions
  • Fabricate, and install structures, such as windows, doors, trims, baseboards, crown moldings, cabinetry, and stairs
  • Use levels, rules, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Work on ladders, scaffolding, and the top beams of buildings
  • Work with skilled labor, project managers, and coordinators on carpentry projects
  • Perform demolitions
  • Respond to all phone calls and personal requests promptly
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Assist team members as needed
  • Back fill other team members as needed
