About The Position
We are seeking a Carpenter to support the Veteran community in the Dallas, TX area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves altering and installing walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows, including all trim and finishes in all buildings on the hospital grounds. The Carpenter will also construct new drywall partitions and other temporary structures of wood construction, install windows and doors, mortising doors and frames for lock strike plates and keepers, and install acoustical ceilings and floor coverings of all types, including carpet. Additionally, the role includes building forms for concrete walks, road curbing, and steps, working with Formica, laminate coverings, and paneling, making new furniture such as tables, cabinets, and work benches, and constructing and installing bulletin boards, blackboards, cabinets, and shelving.
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
- Previous carpentry experience and knowledge in the construction field
- OSHA certification
- Creativity and design skills
- Experience of using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws and nail guns
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Nice To Haves
- An associate degree or an apprenticeship in carpentry
- Joinery or cabinet-making skills
- Knowledge of building regulations and codes
- Previous experience with the VA is a plus
