Role Summary The Carpenter position is a full time regular position on our construction site. This position reports to the BlueCity Construction Site Superintendent and works closely alongside other team members in a collaborative manner. All work performed must comply within BlueCity’s high quality standards of quality workmanship. BlueCity employees all work to ensure their work is done in a safe and timely manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of carpentry or hands on construction experience industry.
  • Ability to work with hand and power carpentry tools and other construction equipment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive professional attitude and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have a satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Good team player and takes direction well
  • Manual lifting is a requirement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who leads by example and readily assumes responsibility for results
  • Strong work ethic, high standards, and a sense of personal accountability and ownership
  • Punctual, reliable, dependable and self-motivated
  • Dedicated to meeting and exceeding BlueCity objectives as well as fulfilling personal and career-related goals
  • Be safety orientated, self-motivated and work well with others

Nice To Haves

  • Level 2 First Aid an asset.
  • Experience in large projects would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Must have knowledge of plan reading, layout, concrete formwork, framing, steel stud, window and door install, siding, roofing, drywall, minor electrical and minor mechanical
  • Ability to operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
  • Responsible to anticipate issues related to quality, safety, deadlines and proactively communicate them to the Carpenter Foreman
  • Knowledgeable of other trade disciplines and have a good understanding of the processes on a construction site
  • Maintain understanding and ensure compliance with BlueCity’s safety program
  • Perform other related duties as required
