About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Carpenter to join its education/municipal team in Dallas, Texas. The Carpenter performs a variety of tasks to maintain productivity at the job site. Activities are coordinated with the Carpenter Foreman, Project Manager, and/or Superintendent.

Most work takes place on job sites, in an office trailer, or inside an existing structure. When working outside, employees must wear personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies and weather conditions. The project team or team member may need to move to other geographic work locations as necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience.
• On-the-job training required.
• Basic knowledge of reading blueprints required.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with little supervision or direction.
• Ability to make sound business decisions related to field operations.
• Ability to carry out written, oral, or scheduled instructions.
• Ability to clearly speak and understand English.
• Ability to write using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
• Ability to read safety rules and instructions for the use and maintenance of trucks, tools, and equipment, as well as methods and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma preferred.
• Forklift training preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour training preferred.
• CPR/First Aid training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks to maintain productivity at the job site.
• Construct scaffolds, rough formwork, gang ladders, and slab box-outs; set sleeves.
• Lay out and install wall blocking and install roof blocking.
• Hang and finish drywall, level floors, caulk, and patch hollow metal doors and frames using bondo.
• Install fire safing (isolations) and smoke seals.
• Perform traffic control flagging; certification is needed.
• Coordinate activities with the Carpenter Foreman, Project Manager, and/or Superintendent.
• Wear required personal protective equipment when working outside the office trailer or existing structure.
