About The Position

WinnCompanies is seeking a Carpenter to join their team, supporting multiple properties totaling around 2,400 units in the Chicago, IL area. This role is crucial for maintaining properties and ensuring resident satisfaction through technical expertise and excellent customer service. The Carpenter will be responsible for installing cabinets, counter-tops, doors, and similar items in both vacant and occupied units. The pay for this role is $38.85 per hour, with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous working experience as a carpenter.
  • In-depth knowledge of different carpentry materials and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with appropriate electrical tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • OSHA 10-hour & OSHA-30 construction certifications are required.
  • General Contractor License or NCCER Carpenter Level 1–4 or Journeyman / apprenticeship carpentry credential.
  • Scaffold User / Erector / Competent Person Aerial Lift Certification.
  • A current vehicle license in good standing and meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy.
  • Possess needed tools for all jobs and be willing to purchase your own tools.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
  • Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs.
  • Ability to speak and understand basic English.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs in areas such as appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and basic HVAC.
  • Study blueprints and sketches carefully.
  • Execute measuring activities with detail, able to obtain square footage.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth the needed material.
  • Repair stairways, doors and window frames, partitions, and rafters.
  • Assemble and install kitchen cabinets, siding, and drywall.
  • Install items where designated.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance.
  • Layout floorings, VCT and ceramic, ensuring they are leveled and compatible.
  • Knowledge of painting and patching and tools.
  • Maintain an accurate daily timekeeping record via the timekeeping system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
