About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Carpenter/Painter for the 2nd Shift, working from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. This onsite role involves fabricating and finishing structures, platforms, and products for factory and office applications. The position requires planning and performing installations of partitions, coating, and covering with finishing materials. Responsibilities include planning and laying out work, installing, maintaining, and repairing structures using standard methods, and blending and matching finishes. The role also involves working with others on project accomplishment, preparing work sites, obtaining materials, prefabricating components, and carrying out finishing operations. Similar duties will be performed throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of the job description. Collaboration with other trades on joint projects is expected, leveraging common skill crossover for shared responsibilities and efficient use of skills. Decision-making regarding joining methods, repair approaches, and selection of finishing materials is part of the role. The position requires reading drawings and using mathematics, primarily geometry, for layout work. Under supervision, the Carpenter/Painter will carry out standard fabrication projects under diverse conditions and obtain necessary materials and tools. Judgment will be exercised in planning task sequences and laying out projects to meet specific requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of Carpentry experience to include knowledge of cabinet making, painting, joinery, woodworking methods, layout techniques, finishing and decorating, and the use of related machinery and hand tools.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • 2 years of trades training
  • 2 years of Carpentry experience
  • Door and Locksmith Experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform the work necessary to fabricate and finish structures, platforms, and similarly constructed products for factory and office applications.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machinery.
  • Plan and perform the installation of partitions and coat and cover with finishing materials.
  • Plan and layout work and install, maintain and repair structures using standard methods and processes to fit components, blend and match finishes.
  • Work with others responsible for overall project accomplishment to prepare the work site, obtain materials, prefabricate components, and carry out finishing operations to preserve and decorate.
  • Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of the job description.
  • Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
  • Make decisions regarding joining methods and the approach to take for repairs and in applying and selecting finishing materials.
  • Read drawings and use mathematics, principally geometry, applicable to layout work.
  • Under the direction of the Leader/Supervisor, carry out a variety of standard fabrication projects under diverse conditions and obtain materials and tools required for laying out and building structures.
  • Exercise judgment in planning the sequence of tasks and laying out the project to fit specific requirements.
