About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter II Lead that will be responsible for structural concrete construction in compliance with local building codes and general construction principals. This position involves setting up trailers, studying blueprints, and performing various carpentry tasks including building decks, stairs, roofs, and assembling forms. The lead will also be responsible for leading journeyman, assisting with grades and elevations, and performing concrete and rough carpentry. Additionally, the role requires tracking production rates, identifying material needs, and building relationships with diverse individuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of seven (7) years carpentry experience
  • Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, and speak and understand English
  • Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status

  • Trade or technical school certification/diploma preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up trailers
  • Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material requirements and measure dimensions
  • Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures; install shelves, setup tool trailers/conex’s
  • Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms
  • Lead journeyman and assist foreman with shooting grades and elevations
  • Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials
  • Perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks)
  • Work autonomously under minimal direction from carpenter foreman to lead small crews in the safe execution of concrete work
  • Track quantities and hours to analyze production rates and report to carpenter foreman and superintendent
  • Identify material, consumables, and safety equipment needs well in advance to support proactive project planning with the assistance of carpenter foreman and superintendent
  • Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
