About The Position

To report to and take direction from the Carpenter Supervisor. To fabricate and perform alterations and maintenance repairs to Building Authority Properties. This role involves training, consulting, and leading shift carpenters, ensuring compliance with policies and safety regulations, and coordinating scheduled work execution during the assigned shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Previous experience and working knowledge in structural and finishing carpentry.
  • Experience working in a maintenance CMMS system.
  • Experience leading others and projects to completion.
  • Ability to work well with others, including employees, vendors, contractors, and good customer service to tenants.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed.
  • Technical skills - the expertise necessary to perform a specific role.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, consults, and leads shift carpenters and others, completing and leading shift priorities.
  • Ensures compliance with Building Authority policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinates the scheduling with Supervisors and leading the scheduled work and its execution during their assigned shift.
  • Performs work and leads their shift to maintain buildings maintained by the Building Authority, including installing interior and exterior doors, repairing roofs, performing metal, wood, concrete, and masonry construction, installing ceilings, and drywall installation and finishing.
  • Assists the Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Paint shops with maintenance repairs.
  • Assists in correcting safety issues within the Building Authority property.
  • Evaluates the performance of those they lead on shift and provides recommendations for skill development to shop Supervisors.
  • Assists the Carpentry Supervisor in identifying materials needing ordered, including type and quantity.
  • Works with Supervisors to estimate, track labor and material costs for alterations, handle web requests and maintenance work orders to completion, ensuring CMMS documentation is completed.
  • Works with Supervisors to identify materials to maintain an adequate inventory of commonly used parts and materials.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and assists other shops in performing their maintenance as needed.
  • Complies with Building Authority policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
