About The Position

The Carpenter [I/II/III] supports SC Swiderski’s field construction operations through the safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of carpentry tasks across all phases of single-family and multi-family residential construction. Carpenters perform framing, installation, finish trim work, and material preparation to meet SCS quality standards and schedule expectations. As employees progress through Levels I, II, and III, they assume increasing independence, technical proficiency, professionalism, and leadership responsibility—ranging from developing fundamental carpentry skills under supervision, to fully independent finish carpentry, to mentoring junior carpenters and supporting complex project execution across multiple sites. The Level III Carpenter has reached, in additional skills and experience, a level of proficiency that allows them to function as a team resource in the overall support and delivery of services to single and multi-family construction projects. They function as a cornerstone of the team in their areas of responsibility functions as an advanced labor resource and field-support specialist, capable of supporting construction teams with fully independent finish carpentry, to mentoring junior carpenters and supporting complex project execution across multiple sites. The Carpenter III successfully performs all the job duties of the Carpenter I & II roles and is directly responsible for mentoring and coaching lower-level team members, supporting skills development and technical readiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years carpentry experience with advanced finish capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of building materials and finish methods.
  • Ability to perform advanced cuts, specialty trim installation, and complex fitment work.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management abilities.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Additional skills and experience to augment and support the Field Operations Teams. (Supervision, surveying, mechanical repair, CDL certifications, EMT certification, or other disciplines beneficial to Construction at SCS.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of Levels I and II with a high degree of independence, skill, and accountability.
  • Lead installation of specialty trim, custom millwork, and complex finish packages.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings with expert proficiency.
  • Coordinate and sequence finish tasks to support workflow and schedule.
  • Support advanced cabinetry installations and specialty materials.
  • Demonstrate proper tool use and safe practices through hands-on training.
  • Support Site Superintendent with finish quality reviews.
  • Assist with material planning and inventory oversight.
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA and SCS safety requirements.
  • Operate lifts (telehandler, forklift, scissor/boom lift) where certified.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure smooth project execution
