About The Position

The Carpenter I constructs, erects, installs, or repairs structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms and building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters, wood stairways, windows, door frames, and hardwood floors. This role ensures that equipment, the physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels, efficiently and safely with minimal downtime and inconvenience to guests and co-workers. The position requires adherence to established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Carpenter I will study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. They will shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws, and install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the leadership team.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, constructs and/or maintains structural woodwork and other varied woodwork requiring the use of standard carpenter tools and power driven woodworking machinery.
  • Completes work with satisfactory compliance with directions given, although routine repairs are usually made independently without supervision or review.
  • Ensures that equipment, physical plant and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels, efficiently and safely with minimal downtime and inconvenience to guests and co-workers.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Measures and marks cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Installs structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
