This role assists a journeyman in planning, laying out, and installing forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts for concrete structures. The position requires the use of hand and power tools for measuring, cutting, and assembling materials. Responsibilities include constructing and erecting forms, bracing them securely, and assisting with concrete pouring and finishing. The role also involves removing defects, patching surfaces, and installing other components according to plans and specifications. Safety is a critical aspect, requiring active participation in safety processes, hazard identification, reporting, and adherence to safety rules and procedures, including lockout/tag out. Communication and teamwork are essential for coordinating with other crafts and co-workers. The position involves learning to read and understand plans, visualize in three dimensions, and assist in planning and layout. It also requires observing installed equipment for hazards and reporting issues, examining field conditions for problems and cost-saving measures, and taking corrective actions. If certified, operating and maintaining construction equipment and completing daily inspections are also part of the role.
