Carpenter, Handyman & Remodeling Apprentice
About The Position
A Team Home Services is seeking a motivated Carpenter, Handyman & Remodeling Apprentice to join our growing team! This position is ideal for someone with basic experience in construction, carpentry, remodeling, or residential home repairs who wants to build a long-term career in the skilled trades. Working alongside experienced technicians and installers, you'll receive hands-on training while assisting with a wide variety of residential projects throughout the Greater Austin area. The ideal candidate is dependable, eager to learn, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional workmanship and outstanding customer service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in occupied residential homes professionally
- Ability to lift at least 55 pounds
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of experience in carpentry, construction, remodeling, handyman work, maintenance, or related trades
- Basic knowledge of: Carpentry, Drywall repair, Painting, Flooring, Home maintenance and repairs
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Strong attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Assist with residential remodeling projects including kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, and general renovations
- Support demolition, material preparation, installation, and finish work
- Assist with carpentry projects including framing, trim, doors, cabinetry, shelving, and wood repairs
- Help install vanities, cabinets, flooring, fixtures, hardware, appliances, and other residential components
- Perform basic drywall repairs, patching, tape and float, painting, and finish work
- Assist with general home maintenance and repair projects
- Learn basic plumbing fixture installation and minor electrical fixture replacement under supervision
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Load, unload, transport, and organize tools and materials
- Follow project scopes, layouts, safety procedures, and company quality standards
- Keep tools and equipment clean, maintained, and organized
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, coworkers, and supervisors
- Continue developing technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship
