About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Carpenter Foreman to lead and supervise carpentry crews on Federal and Commercial construction projects. The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing daily carpentry activities while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents, quality standards, and project schedules. Candidates must have strong leadership skills, extensive hands-on carpentry experience, and the ability to interpret and execute construction documents accurately.

Requirements

Minimum 10+ years of commercial carpentry experience, with prior foreman or lead carpenter experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of commercial and federal construction requirements, methods, materials, and sequencing
Experience laying out work, supervising carpentry crews and managing daily work activities
Proficient in metal framing, drywall, doors/frames/hardware, acoustical ceilings, millwork, and bath accessories
Solid understanding of building codes and quality control requirements, and knowledge of ADA/ABA accessibility requirements
Ability to read, interpret, and execute work from construction drawings and specifications
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Commitment to safety, quality, and schedule performance
Ability to lift materials, work from ladders/lifts, and perform physical labor
Reliable transportation and ability to travel between job sites as needed
Professional appearance, attitude, and leadership presence

Responsibilities

Supervise, lead, and coordinate the daily work activities of carpenters and laborers
Assign tasks, provide direction, and ensure crews understand scope, sequence, and quality expectations
Monitor crew productivity and workmanship; take corrective action as needed
Train, mentor, and develop carpentry personnel; promote safe and efficient work practices
Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews and project supervision
Plan, schedule, and sequence carpentry work in coordination with project schedules and other trades
Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittments to plan labor, materials, tools, and equipment
Identify potential conflicts, constructability issues, and field conditions; communicate solutions proactively
Coordinate inspections, quality control reviews, and punch-list activities
Assist with material takeoffs, ordering, staging, and inventory control
Ensure all work meets federal, commercial, and company quality standards, project specifications, and building codes
Enforce OSHA, site-specific, and company safety policies; lead by example
Ensure compliance with ADA/ABA requirements where applicable
Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident prevention initiatives
Verify installations prior to inspection and turnover
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and layouts
Perform and oversee wood and light-gauge metal framing for walls, partitions, ceilings, soffits, and related assemblies
Lay out walls, doors, frames, ceilings, and fixtures using accurate measurements and layout tools
Install drywall systems, including cutting, hanging, fastening, and preparation for finishing
Install hollow metal and wood door frames, doors, and related components to required tolerances
Install door hardware, including hinges, locks, closers, panic devices, stops, kick plates, and accessories per hardware schedules
Install acoustical ceiling systems, including grid, tiles, light trims, and access panels
Install bath accessories, toilet partitions, blocking, millwork, casework, shelving, and specialty carpentry items
Perform punch-list, corrective, and closeout work as required
Communicate daily with project superintendent, project manager, quality managers, inspectors, and other trades
Provide accurate daily updates on progress, manpower, material needs, and field issues
Assist with daily reports, timekeeping, and documentation as required
Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite
Assist with material handling, site logistics, and selective demolition as needed
Work independently and as part of a leadership team while maintaining productivity, quality, and schedule adherence
