About The Position

Christman Southeast Constructors (CSEC) is seeking a Carpenter Foreman for its Knoxville, Tennessee region. CSEC is looking for innovative minds who want to shape the world and live to build. This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of an assigned crew to ensure project goals are met, while upholding Christman's policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience or proven established work history for the position.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a supervisory role, including previous experience in Foreman roles.
  • Must have handbags and all necessary hand tools.
  • Able to perform rough and finish carpentry and general trades work.
  • Experience in concrete construction including formwork erection, rebar installation and concrete place and finish activities.
  • Experience in setting case and millwork.
  • Experience in architectural doors and hardware (commercial).
  • Able to maintain open communication and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively.
  • Problem-solving abilities.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including but not limited to drug and background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience as a construction Foreman.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and cooperatively with Project Manager, Project Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager and/or Project Engineer to ensure project goals are met.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of assigned crew, including JHA / PTWP review.
  • Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure compliance with all Christman policies, procedures, and any applicable laws.
  • Identify safety hazards to self or others, and takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
  • Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
  • Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.
  • Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans.
  • Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies.
  • Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.
  • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
  • Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery.
  • Address employee questions / comments, and provide input to superiors regarding employee performance.
  • Provide assistance to workers engaged in construction activities, using hand tools or other equipment.
