About The Position

This role focuses on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to become a proficient carpenter. The apprentice will learn various carpentry techniques, including reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, assembling structures, and performing repairs. The position involves working with both wood and steel, adhering to safety regulations, and collaborating with other trades. The apprentice will gain experience operating hand and power tools, shop machinery, and company vehicles, and will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

  • Ability to perform semi-skilled carpentry work, such as repairing and constructing all aspects of architectural building.
  • Ability to assist with the assembling of pre-cut and pre-fabricated wooden or steel parts to form complete units.
  • Ability to assist with constructing, erecting, installing and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, steel, and wallboard, and conform to local building codes.
  • Ability to build rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, tunnels, sewer supports, and temporary shelters.
  • Ability to remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures, and repair or replace.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and shop machinery in conjunction with proper training.
  • Ability to fill cracks and other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel and sanding tools.
  • Ability to assist with finishing surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings, using paint, other finishes, tools and paneling.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles, forklift and aerial lift in conjunction with proper certification.
  • Ability to receive materials and offload in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Ability to secure and maintain basic tools and perform all tasks to standard.
  • Ability to follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks in a safe and workmanlike manner in accordance with company policies.
  • Familiarity with company policies and regulations.
  • Ability to follow directions of supervisory personnel of all trades.
  • Commitment to maintaining an alcohol- and drug-free work environment.
  • Ability to adhere to and sign all pre-task plans and job hazard analysis forms daily.
  • Thorough familiarity with current client, company, and OSHA safety.
  • Ability to inform Safety Managers and Superintendents/Supervisor of all safety violations immediately.
  • Ability to report all injuries to safety personnel and foreman immediately.
