About The Position

This position is part-time. The Carousel Waitstaff serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests seated at tables and bars, computes bills and accepts payment, takes orders for and serves light meals, and requests identification from customers when legal age is in question.

Requirements

Effectively interact and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
Write simple correspondence
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other associates of the hotel
Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Compute rate, ratio and percent
Ability to apply common sense in understanding directions to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Demonstrate the ability to utilize a computer
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Micro System or ability to quickly grasp proficiency in the Micros system
Possess a valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor’s Permit or Possess the ability and willingness to attend a Responsible Vendor’s Class and pass the test with a score of 90% or better
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Two (2) years of Server experience in a face-paced, high volume restaurant or bar setting

Responsibilities

Welcome and greet guests; make all guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them
Take beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our order/sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar
Deliver beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner
Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment
Maintain clean service areas
Monitor and observe the dining experience of your guests; ensure that they are satisfied with the food and service; respond promptly and courteously to any requests
Prepare the bar bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable)
Is ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise
Is ready and willing to assist bus persons with clearing and resetting tables
Thanks guests for their visit and invite them to return
Is available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
