About The Position

This role involves examining manifests, bills of lading, and air waybills to determine cargo acceptance and release procedures. The Cargo Agent will be responsible for compiling documents, performing data entry for import and export shipments, and interpreting aircraft loading instructions, hazardous material labels, and cargo routing information. Key duties include expediting cargo from the warehouse, assisting customers with shipment tracking, notifying consignees about arrival dates and customs requirements, and entering billing transactions. The position also requires authorizing cargo release, managing export cargo acceptance, assisting customers at the front counter with pick-up and delivery requests, preparing invoices, working with government agencies for customs clearance, exchanging documents for flights, recognizing dangerous goods, and completing mandatory training. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be US citizen.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English proficiently.
  • Capable of repeating repetitive tasks.
  • Must be flexible and available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
  • Must have Valid Driver's License.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn how to work within an IT cargo system environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Examine manifests, bills of lading and air waybills to determine work procedures for accepting or releasing cargo.
  • Compile documents and perform data entry functions for import and export cargo shipments.
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests and cargo routing familiarization.
  • Expedite shipment of cargo from Warehouse and assist customers in tracking their shipments.
  • Notify consignee or representative concerning arrival dates of shipment, customs clearance requirements and weight of shipment.
  • Enter transactions for billing to consignee and airline customer prior to release of freight.
  • Authorize final approval for cargo release.
  • Undertake acceptance procedures for export cargo shipments.
  • Assist customers at the front counter including pick-up and delivery requests.
  • Prepare invoices for charges, airline clients and management regarding freight movements.
  • Work with Government agencies to clear shipments.
  • Meet flight in order to exchange documents as required.
  • Recognize dangerous goods upon receiving.
  • Complete mandatory security and other training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
