About The Position

Caregivers at REM West Virginia help people with developmental disabilities and other support needs grow, learn, and live well. The role involves building meaningful relationships, supporting participants’ developmental goals, encouraging community involvement and participation in favorite activities, and assisting with daily living needs. Participants may have autism, behavioral challenges, and other complex needs. Assisted-living support includes personal hygiene and care. Full-time overnight positions are available; daytime and overnight roles are also mentioned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Cooking and cleaning skills.
• Ability to assist with personal care, including eating, dressing, bathing, and toileting.
• Ability to stay calm and problem-solve in stressful situations.
• Patient, compassionate, reliable, and responsible.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance for some positions.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience in human services, direct care, or care coordination is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships with the individuals served.
