About The Position

This is a part-time position for a Caregiver (189R) in Florence, Oregon. The role involves supporting individuals with disabilities, assisting them with daily living activities, encouraging independence, building life skills, and following care plans. The client is looking for a caring, dependable, patient, calm, and confident DSP who can provide close support, especially during challenging moments which may include physical aggression, self-harm, property destruction, and elopement. Assistance with toileting and elimination is also required. The caregiver will also be responsible for guiding the client and ensuring safety around animals. On the fun side, the client enjoys dinosaurs, helicopters, trains, taking toys apart, and being active and playful. The ideal candidate will be able to match the client's energy while providing structure and support.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • 1 or more years of care experience
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to get certified
  • Own a smartphone
  • Legal U.S. work authorization and background check
  • Driver’s license and insurance for some roles
  • Must own a car to travel for this client to meet them at different locations for the shift
  • Patient, calm, and confident
  • Ability to stay grounded, consistent
  • Ability to stay aware of surroundings

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Daily Living - From helping with meals, bathing, or getting ready for the day, you’ll provide care that helps members feel confident and comfortable.
  • Encouraging Independence - Join members on walks, shopping trips, or community outings, helping them connect with the world around them.
  • Building Life Skills - Teach and model everyday skills like cooking, managing money, and understanding social cues - empowering members to grow and thrive.
  • Keeping Things on Track - Follow care plans, offer medication reminders, and document progress so our team can celebrate every milestone together.
  • Provide close support, especially during challenging moments which may include physical aggression, self-harm, property destruction, and elopement.
  • Assist with toileting and elimination, including assistance getting seated on the toilet.
  • Guide the client and help keep both the client and animals safe.
  • Match the client's energy while providing structure and support.
