About The Position

Make a real difference by supporting individuals with disabilities. This role involves supporting a client who requires assistance with daily living, including toileting and elimination. The client may exhibit challenging behaviors such as physical aggression, self-harm, property destruction, and elopement, requiring a patient, calm, and confident caregiver who can stay grounded, consistent, and aware of their surroundings. The caregiver will also help keep the client and animals safe, guide the client in understanding animal warning signs, and provide structure and support while matching the client's energy. The client enjoys dinosaurs, helicopters, trains, taking toys apart, and being outside, and benefits from an active and playful approach.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • 1 or more years of care experience
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to get certified
  • Own a smartphone
  • Legal U.S. work authorization and background check
  • Driver’s license and insurance for some roles
  • Must own a car to travel for this client to meet them at different locations for the shift

Responsibilities

  • Support Daily Living - including helping with meals, bathing, or getting ready for the day.
  • Encourage Independence - Join members on walks, shopping trips, or community outings.
  • Build Life Skills - Teach and model everyday skills like cooking, managing money, and understanding social cues.
  • Keep Things on Track - Follow care plans, offer medication reminders, and document progress.
  • Provide close support, especially during challenging moments.
  • Assist with toileting and elimination.
  • Guide the client to keep both the client and animals safe.
  • Match the client's energy while providing structure and support.
