About The Position

Seeking an excellent part-time caregiver for a Memory Care Community. This role involves providing direct care to residents, ensuring their comfort and safety, and maintaining a positive and supportive environment. The caregiver will perform a variety of tasks related to resident care, including personal hygiene, feeding assistance, mobility support, and monitoring resident conditions. Accurate record-keeping and adherence to facility policies and procedures are essential. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and other team members.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk, read or hear.
  • Frequent use of all office-related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator.

Responsibilities

  • Use wristband or photo card to identify residents before administering treatments or serving meals.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Report all changes in resident's condition to the Nurse promptly.
  • Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident's protected health information and report any suspected violations.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access the facility's information system.
  • Perform only trained care procedures and ensure resident rooms are prepared for admissions.
  • Greet residents, escort them to their rooms, and introduce them to others.
  • Make residents comfortable, inventory, and mark personal possessions.
  • Store resident's clothing and inventory personal belongings.
  • Assist residents with packing personal possessions during transfers or discharges.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm atmosphere.
  • Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds and put extra covers on beds as requested.
  • Ensure residents unable to call for help are checked frequently.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Check residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements.
  • Keep residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bath, hair combing, dressing/undressing).
  • Keep residents dry by changing gown, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Check each resident routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdowns.
  • Report injuries of unknown source.
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents.
  • Record and report data as instructed.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility.
  • Use only equipment trained to use.
  • Report defective equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of information.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident's refusal of treatment requests and report them to a supervisor.
  • Assist residents with dressing/undressing.
  • Assist residents with hair care functions.
  • Assist residents with nail care.
  • Shave male residents.
  • Keep hair on female residents clean.
  • Make beds (occupied and unoccupied).
  • Position bedrest residents correctly and comfortably.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Maintain intake and output records.
  • Keep incontinent residents clean and dry.
  • Check and report bowel movements and character of stool.
  • Utilize protective and adaptive equipment.
  • Provide eye and ear care.
  • Weigh and measure residents.
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations (TPRs).
