About The Position

The Caregiver enhances the SRIM experience by providing heartfelt care to residents and their families and by demonstrating the organization’s golden-rule value. The role supports residents’ daily living needs, encourages independence, and helps maintain a clean, safe, orderly, and dignified community environment. The position also involves dining-room service, participation in resident activities, housekeeping and laundry, communication with residents and supervisors, and teamwork with other associates and management. Caregivers respond promptly and courteously to requests, report changes in residents’ health or emotional well-being and safety hazards, and follow established policies and procedures, including emergency procedures and HIPAA requirements. They may be essential personnel during emergencies or inclement weather and may assist with training and mentoring new employees. The position is based at Westhill Macon in Macon, Georgia.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell; occasionally sit and climb or balance.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, peri-care, toileting, and hygiene.
Interact with residents with empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect, communicating in a language each resident can understand.
Observe and report daily changes in residents’ health and emotional well-being to a supervisor.
Serve and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Initiate and participate in leisure activities listed on the activity calendar.
Maintain a clean, safe, orderly, and dignified environment for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
Perform general housekeeping, laundry, and other cleaning duties according to established schedules and standards.
Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests and requests from family members and visitors.
Ensure residents or their responsible parties sign residents out when they leave the community.
Identify and report safety hazards, practice safe working habits and good body mechanics, and help maintain a secure environment.
Follow established policies and procedures during emergencies; serve as essential personnel during emergencies or inclement weather and remain at the community until released by a supervisor.
Work collaboratively with associates and management, maintain a positive and respectful attitude, and assist associates when requested or required.
Comply with attendance and call-off policies, attend trainings, in-service sessions, and mandatory meetings, and follow the dress code.
Refer inquiries about resident care from families and visitors to the immediate supervisor.
Comply with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with training and mentoring new employees.
Take initiative, seek additional information, offer solutions and suggestions, and willingly take on special projects or assignments outside regular duties.
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned or requested.
