Caregiver (FT, PRN, and Weekends)
About The Position
The Caregiver provides quality personal care and psychosocial support to residents within the limits of delegation. The role assists residents with activities of daily living, housekeeping, cooking, meals, and activities, and represents Enriched Senior Living’s standards and commitment to residents, their families, and the community. Caregivers support person-directed care, build relationships with residents and families, encourage socialization, and report changes in residents’ routines or behavior to the appropriate leadership. After training and delegation by nursing staff, caregivers may administer medications. The position also includes resident and facility laundry and routine housekeeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience as a caregiver and working with individuals diagnosed with dementia.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Able to complete infection-control training and have no communicable diseases.
- Familiarity with OSHA blood-borne pathogen standards and ability to follow infection-prevention policies and procedures.
- Able to lift more than 50 pounds at times and use proper lifting techniques.
- Able to pass criminal background checks.
- Good health.
- Reliable transportation.
- Compassionate approach and ability to provide excellent resident care.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, housekeeping, and meals.
- Support resident activities and facilitate socialization through meaningful interactions.
- Develop relationships with residents and support their families.
- Maintain daily resident records and report changes in residents’ routines or behavior to the Executive Director, Health and Wellness Director, or RCC.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, care conferences, and in-service training.
- Maintain a team-focused, positive attitude with staff and families.
- Administer medications to residents when trained and delegated by nursing staff.
- Complete resident and facility laundry.
- Perform housekeeping, including dusting, vacuuming, taking out garbage, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Perform other duties as required by the Executive Director of Management.
