About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. This role involves creating and maintaining a warm, positive, and calm environment for residents and ensuring their personal care needs are met.

Requirements

  • High school education or its equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Frequent use of all office-related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ALDS), meals, and personal care needs.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' condition to the Health and Wellness Director.
  • Document all resident care activities and observations accurately.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the Executive Director and Health and Wellness Director.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected violations.
  • Report any unauthorized attempts to access community information systems.
  • Perform only trained care tasks and ensure resident rooms are prepared.
  • Greet, escort, and introduce new residents.
  • Ensure residents are comfortable and assist with packing/transportation needs.
  • Maintain a positive and calm atmosphere.
  • Participate in shift nursing reports and assist in identifying problem areas.
  • Follow established policies regarding exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds, provide extra covers, and ensure residents who cannot call for help are checked frequently.
  • Answer resident calls promptly and check personal care needs.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and ensure water pitchers are clean and filled.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with dressing, undressing, hair care, and nail care.
  • Shave male residents and maintain hair cleanliness for female residents.
  • Keep residents dry by changing clothing and linens when wet or soiled.
  • Position bedrest residents correctly and comfortably.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Maintain intake and output records.
  • Keep incontinent residents clean and dry.
  • Check and report bowel movements and character of stool.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Utilize protective and adaptive equipment.
  • Provide eye and ear care.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Weigh and measure residents.
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations (TPRs).
  • Assist with the care of end-of-life residents and post-mortem care.
  • Report defective equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident refusal of treatment requests and report them to supervisors.
