Caregiver / PCA - Companionship & Dementia Care
About The Position
BrightStar Care is hiring an experienced, personable caregiver for an ongoing assignment with a male client in Henderson, Nevada. The client is seeking a companion who enjoys conversation, sharing interests, and spending time together while providing dependable care. He enjoys Motown music, sports, and going into the community several times each day, including for barbershop appointments. The caregiver will provide companionship and assistance with bathing, toileting, hygiene, and other personal needs. The client values privacy, so personal care must be provided discreetly and respectfully. The role also includes dementia care, transportation and accompaniment on outings, safe transfers and repositioning, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and pet care. The schedule is Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pay is $16–$17 per hour, paid weekly, with mileage reimbursement for client transportation.
Requirements
- At least two years of caregiving experience, including dementia care.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, using appropriate equipment and assistance according to the care plan.
- Current driver’s license, auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle suitable for client transportation.
- Willingness and ability to participate in multiple daily outings.
- Comfortable working in a home with two dogs.
- Valid physical and a negative two-step TB test.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Consistent availability Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Build a comfortable connection through conversation, music, sports, and shared activities.
- Drive and accompany the client on multiple daily outings, including barbershop appointments.
- Assist with bathing, dressing, hygiene, and toileting while protecting the client’s privacy and dignity.
- Provide attentive dementia care, including calm reassurance during agitation and supervision and redirection for wandering.
- Assist with safe transfers and repositioning according to the care plan.
- Provide light housekeeping, meal preparation, and pet care.
- Report changes or concerns promptly to the office.
