About The Position

The Woodland Job Corps Center, located in Laurel, Maryland, sits on 33 beautiful acres and is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young adults. Our center provides students the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or equivalent while receiving hands-on career training in high-demand trades such as Culinary Arts, HVAC, Electrical, Security & Protective Services, Landscaping, Hospitality, and Building Construction Technology. At Woodland Job Corps, we are committed to empowering students academically, professionally, and personally as they prepare for successful futures. Woodland Job Corps Center is seeking an energetic and motivated Career Transition Specialist to help students transition into meaningful careers, higher education, and advanced training opportunities. In this rewarding role, you will mentor students, provide career coaching and placement support, and connect them with employers and community resources that promote long-term success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Social Science, Business, Communications, or a closely related field from an accredited institution OR Associate’s degree in one of the fields listed above plus 2 years of related experience
  • Must possess a valid in-state driver’s license
  • Must meet company insurability requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide career counseling and individualized student support
  • Assist students with job placement, college, and training opportunities
  • Build partnerships with local employers and community organizations
  • Develop and monitor student transition plans
  • Motivate and mentor students toward personal and professional success
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case management records
