About The Position

RTR is offering a $2,500 Sign on Bonus to all New Full Time Hires! The Career Specialist is responsible for securing competitive employment for individuals with developmental disabilities referred to or currently attending RTR employment services. This role may involve assisting individuals in the Supported Employment Placement (SEP) community program and overseeing small groups of program members for vocational skills training and job placement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
Must have dependable car.
Need to be flexible with schedule.
Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.
Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies.
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Fluent in English.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals under supervision, employees of the organization, families, and members of the community.
Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Nice To Haves

May be asked to assist individuals in the Supported Employment Placement (SEP) community program and oversee small groups of program members for the purpose of vocational skills training and job placement as needed.
Extensive time outside of the office is required with flexible scheduling.
Works cooperatively with all RTR team members to obtain and expand desired outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Willing and able to spend majority of time on the road and traveling for job procurement purposes.
Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new co-workers as directed.

Responsibilities

Contact businesses, companies, and corporations in the community to secure competitive employment for individuals receiving RTR vocational services.
Serve as a liaison between internal RTR team and outside companies and businesses coordinating follow up support services.
Assist individuals in resume writing, transporting and attending job interviews, and job testing.
Attend applicable intake meetings and department staff meetings to share individual information, progress, and outcomes.
Track all referrals, intakes, interviews, and outcomes related to each individual case.
Develop vocational/employment plans for the organization, including the establishment of specific goals and objectives.
Complete all necessary paperwork pertinent to each referral, including intake packets, individual job performance reviews, evaluation assessments, follow up support forms, ISP’s, and monthly billing.
Work in accordance with Department of Labor standards and perform time studies.
Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new co-workers.
Adhere to agency safety protocols.
Clear snow and ice from walkways, vehicles, parking lots, and roads using equipment like shovels and snow blowers while applying deicing agents to ensure safety.
Adhere to all RTR policies and procedures.
Develop and provide all services in accordance with RTR’s philosophies.
