About The Position

West Coast University is seeking a Career Services Specialist to coordinate the graduate student employment assistance process. This role involves helping students gain meaningful employment in fields related to their studies, guiding them through the job search process with workshops and resume critiques, and coordinating career job fairs with employer representatives. The specialist will provide excellent customer service to students and graduates, assist with job interviews, and help secure entry-level healthcare career opportunities. The goal is to support successful student employment in alignment with the college's mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience in a higher education setting such as career services or advising.
  • Preferably in healthcare or healthcare recruitment background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, business management, student personnel, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with resume development, interviewing skills, proper demeanor, attire, and other related areas to ensure and support successful graduating student employment.
  • Conduct employment workshops on topics such as resume writing, finding a job/internship, networking, preparing for interviews, improving job performance, and other topics as needed.
  • Conduct mock interviews for students.
  • Develop and deliver classroom presentations on industry trends, labor market information, employment preparation, and other related topics as requested by faculty.
  • Proactively develop Career Services relationships with local employers through in-person visits and correspondence.
  • Arrange for interviews and placements of student graduates.
  • Secure employment for a predetermined number of student graduates per week into new positions with local employers.
  • Coordinate career job fair events; conduct employer site visits to campus; promote program visits to students and faculty; greet employers, assist with set-up as needed, and debrief with employers to assess satisfaction and discuss improvements.
