About The Position

The Career Services Coordinator at the Levin College of Law serves as the primary office support for the administrative functions of the office which include recruiting programs, database management and career related programming. This position will support the organization, implementation, and administration of the on-campus and off-campus student job recruitment activities of the College’s Office of Career and Professional Development. The goal of these activities will be to connect students with legal jobs over the summer and full-time legal jobs after graduation. The Career Services Coordinator must possess a high degree of self-direction and organizational skills due to the complexity of activities, the volume of work, and the fast-paced environment. Of critical importance is the ability to work positively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff, as well as with legal employers. The Career Services Coordinator will work with recruiting coordinators for legal employers, attorneys and other legal professionals, faculty and administrators, over 1000 students, and many alumni. The long-term relationships that are cultivated out of these interactions strengthen the entire law school community. The Career Services Coordinator must demonstrate superior judgment and act with considerable intelligence and diplomacy at all times. The Coordinator must also possess excellent data and technical skills and be self-directed in learning how to maximize the use of employment databases and other systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area
  • One year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary office support for the administrative functions of the office, including recruiting programs, database management, and career-related programming.
  • Support the organization, implementation, and administration of on-campus and off-campus student job recruitment activities.
  • Oversee scheduling and other details for employers participating in the on-campus interviewing (OCI) program.
  • Ensure OCI employers comply with all policies and develop/execute programming for students related to OCI procedures.
  • Ensure OCI employers can review student documents and educate students about the OCI bidding process.
  • Provide access to OCI interview schedules and facilitate video interviewing for employers and students.
  • Oversee the technological needs of the Office of Career and Professional Development, ensuring efficient utilization of the Symplicity database.
  • Answer employer and student questions regarding Symplicity, including uploading resumes, responding to job postings, viewing employers, bidding, interview schedules, passwords, deadlines, and log-in information.
  • Analyze existing systems and review/implement technology upgrades for the Office, ensuring seamless transitions and data capture.
  • Train other Office personnel and students on various software tools and stay up-to-date on technological advances in career services.
  • Compile data and statistics related to job placement and assist with tracking and reporting student and alumni employment data.
  • Work with employers to advertise job opportunities outside the OCI program.
  • Develop and maintain effective contact with legal employers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Gather and disseminate job openings and application procedures in Symplicity.
  • Ensure employers comply with relevant policies and research new employers.
  • Proactively identify and address employer concerns.
  • Facilitate video interviewing for employers and students for off-campus opportunities.
  • Update relevant employer information.
  • Ensure students are reimbursed for travel to out-of-state interviews.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with students, employers, and the general public via telephone and email.
  • Create and send communications to students and employers regarding events, programs, and job opportunities.
  • Support the Office of Career and Professional Development by coordinating events and programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
