About The Position

Provides employment information and resources to visitors of the Weld County Workforce Center. Identifies customer needs and refers to appropriate program, resource, or partner agency. Assists customers in accessing information and services in Employment Resource Room. Rotates with other staff to provide lobby functions on Main Campus in Greeley. Primary office location is in Greeley but includes some occasional travel throughout Weld County as needed. May occasionally work out of satellite offices in South Weld County. Reliable, predictable attendance within department business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. This position is in-person and is not eligible for consistent telework arrangements. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years full time business or clerical experience in an office environment which includes a high level of customer service and proven experience working with the public or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate must possess ability to read and write Spanish in a proficient manner.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to interpret and translate between English and Spanish using professional language.
  • Candidate must possess experience communicating both verbally and in writing with a diverse group of clients and customers.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to obtain information from various business or community agencies.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to enter data into several different computer programs.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis.
  • Candidate must possess the knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to write correspondence.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to facilitate workshops and present information to small and large groups.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

  • Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.
  • Candidate must pass Department of Human Services background checks prior to employment start date.
  • Driving is essential in this position.
  • Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Upon Hire
  • Candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring throughout employment.
  • Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel as needed to meet the essential functions of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.
  • This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.

Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming phone calls to the Weld County Workforce Center.
  • Identifies efficiently and accurately the caller's need and directs caller to the proper extension or department employee in a customer focused manner.
  • Provides calm, respectful responses to individuals in stress filled situations.
  • Greets and directs walk-in customers and visitors and identifies the purpose of the visit and helps as needed.
  • Checks in customers for appointments and monitors to ensure they are seen promptly by staff.
  • Oversees lobby and locks and unlocks doors daily.
  • Monitors unauthorized posting in the lobby area.
  • Meets with a diverse customer base of visitors to the Weld County Workforce Center that includes mandated participants to obtain critical information used for matching customers with potential job opportunities and appropriate work readiness programs.
  • Identifies and evaluates potential employment needs of each customer based on individual employment barriers.
  • Refers customers to appropriate agencies, community services or unit case managers.
  • Provides customers with information on various employment and training opportunities and counsels them on career options, labor market statistics and other available employment related resources.
  • Encourages uncooperative jobseekers to utilize and participate in activities and programs that will increase their ability to become employed.
  • Assists individuals in the resource room with on-line employment websites and job-related resources.
  • Works with customers to assist with the career search process, such as looking for job openings, resume critiquing or development, and the applications process.
  • Educates the customer on career searching processes and follow-up.
  • Assist clients and other division staff in translation of both verbal and written communication in Spanish.
  • Enters and maintains customer and program information into appropriate County or State data management system.
  • Completes all required data entry accurately, timely and appropriately based upon specific program requirements.
  • Compiles records and prepares various reports, forms, or other appropriate documents in accordance with requirements for assigned unit.
  • Meets individual program goals such as community referrals, program referrals and specific program performance standards and participation rates.
  • Implements timely corrective action plans to ensure goals are met by developing and implementing outreach plans and tools to recruit individuals for programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
