About The Position

The Career Readiness Workshops Specialist is a limited term, student employment opportunity within BYU–Hawaii Career Services. This position is designed for advanced students who bring prior work experience and a commitment to serving their peers. The Specialist will play a hands-on role in designing, coordinating, and leading career-readiness workshops during the summer semester, while also supporting key operational functions such as data inputting and student surveys.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a BYU–Hawaii student in good academic and conduct standing
  • Advanced student classification (Junior or Senior level preferred)
  • Prior work experience in a professional, service, or leadership capacity
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and connect with peers in group settings
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • 6 Months of Directly Relevant Experience

  • Work Experience: Advanced (Capstone) Work Experience Description: Designed for students with substantial experience and advanced skills, such as multiple internships, leadership roles, or specialized training. Best suited for upper-level juniors or seniors with strong practical experience and expertise in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating a series of summer career-readiness workshops for BYU–Hawaii students
  • Help develop workshop schedules, materials, and logistical arrangements in collaboration with the Career Services team
  • Communicate with campus stakeholders, presenters, and student participants to ensure smooth workshop delivery
  • Set up workshop environments (physical or virtual) and ensure all materials are prepared and accessible
  • Lead and co-facilitate career-readiness workshop sessions covering core competencies such as resume writing, professional communication, networking, interview preparation, and career exploration
  • Engage students through interactive, student-centered facilitation methods that promote participation and practical skill development
  • Represent Career Services professionally and serve as a peer role model for career preparedness
  • Accurately enter workshop attendance, participation, and outcome data into Career Services tracking systems
  • Assist in designing, distributing, and collecting pre- and post-workshop surveys to measure student learning and program effectiveness
  • Compile and organize data reports to support program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintain organized and confidential records in accordance with department and university standards
  • Collaborate with Career Services advisors and peer team members to ensure cohesive program delivery
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and planning discussions as required
  • Provide general office support and assist with other Career Services initiatives as assigned
