About The Position

The Title III RPED Grant is seeking a Career Readiness Instructor. This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position with a salary of $39,520. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding. The instructor will adhere to guidelines from the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Title III Grant, US Department of Education, Title III Project Director, Dean of Students, the President, and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of career readiness lessons, supporting students from enrollment to graduation, conducting mock interviews, facilitating workshops, guiding career exploration, creating an internship and job opportunity database, assessing student progress, resolving problems, staying current on industry trends, maintaining records, collaborating with college departments, tracking student progress and attendance, completing purchase orders, and tracking student graduation and job placement data for reports. The instructor will also perform other duties assigned by the Title III Project Director, Associate Dean of Students, Dean of Students, and the President.

Requirements

• A minimum of an Associate degree in Career and Technical Education, Business, Human Resources, Education or related field.
• Demonstrated experience working with first-generation, low-income students.
• Effective/excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to effectively plan and organize work.
• Knowledge of secondary and higher education organizational structure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of lessons on career readiness, including job search strategies, workplace ethics, and soft skills.
• Assist students in creating resumes, cover letters, and professional portfolios.
• Support students from enrollment through graduation.
• Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback on interviewing techniques.
• Assist with time management, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills workshops.
• Guide students in career exploration, goal setting, and workforce expectations.
• Create a database of local internships and job opportunities.
• Assess student progress and provide individualized support when needed.
• Resolve problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; escalating unresolved problems.
• Stay current on industry trends, employer expectations, and workforce development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of student participation and outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with other departments and services across the college to understand processes, systems, and services and to resolve student issues.
• Work closely with the Job Placement Coordinator, Grant Coordinator and Project Director.
• Closely track students’ progress, through communication and analytics, for each academic term to ensure class attendance and academic progress.
• Complete purchase orders.
• Track student graduation and job placement data for annual reports.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Title III Project Director, the Associate Dean of Students, the Dean of Students and the President.
