About The Position

The Career Quest Job Coach at Enid High School provides training and support for students, business co-workers, families, and district personnel to ensure success during worksite rotations and/or competitive employment. This role involves facilitating the training and integration of students with disabilities in various work environments, offering individualized support, and fostering effective communication among all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the training and integration of a student with disabilities in a worksite rotation and/or competitive work environment.
  • Provide individualized support for students at host business worksite rotations or competitive jobs, including job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, and assistive technology.
  • Communicate effectively with Career Quest Instructor(s), other job coaches, employers, coworkers, family members, and school and agency personnel regarding the student being trained.
  • Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities.
  • Carry out steps of the job coaching plan with students and other parties as appropriate.
  • Work with consumers, employers, families, job placement specialists, agency personnel, affiliate school personnel, and other appropriate parties to problem-solve issues related to training and employment.
  • Practice positive reinforcement techniques with students, co-workers, and other staff.
  • Train students in grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
  • Provide travel training to job sites if necessary.
  • Communicate with Career Quest instructor(s) to make final decisions regarding any issues that may affect student success at a worksite rotation or competitive job site.
  • Attend training provided by school district personnel to become knowledgeable of strategies and current 'best practices' in the field of supported employment.
  • Participate in the decision-making process to identify and implement training strategies and/or services with other Career Quest or Enid High School staff and host business staff.
  • Adhere to and promote standards of the host business and/or competitive work site to promote job productivity and efficiency.
  • Submit and complete appropriate job coaching paperwork.
  • Recognize and act on legal responsibilities concerning the safety and welfare of consumers.
  • Demonstrate daily work assignment responsibilities: be accountable for all hours assigned, be punctual and regular in attendance, and attend appropriate training activities.
  • Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, in-services, etc.
  • Serve as an effective role model.
  • Utilize sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Use Standard English in oral and written communication.
  • Work as a productive team member with families, affiliate school, and agency personnel.
  • Be adaptable in dealing with individual and cultural differences.
  • Protect the privacy of individuals and the confidentiality of information unless disclosure serves a professional purpose or is required by law.
  • Avoid actions that could result in conflicts of interest.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
