About The Position

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a Career Prep Instructor for its San Antonio campus. This part-time evening role involves guiding entry-level students through essential foundational coursework across various healthcare programs. Comprehensive training on how to teach these courses will be provided by PMI, so no prior teaching license or experience is required. This is an opportunity for individuals with hands-on experience in healthcare, medical terminology, or clinical care to transition their knowledge into a rewarding educational role.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited program recognized by USDE or CHEA in the subject field AND three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience in the subject area. OR A minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for non-accredited program graduates.
Documented knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology through post-secondary education or practical job experience.
Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that satisfies the minimum requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) years of prior teaching experience in the subject field.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver lesson plans in foundation subjects using varied teaching techniques that appeal to different learning styles.
Plan instruction to achieve specific learning objectives based on student needs and established curriculum standards.
Evaluate and grade students' classwork, assignments, and practical tests within 72 hours.
Maintain scheduled face-to-face office hours to advise, assist, and remediate students.
Discuss academic or behavioral issues with students as they arise and alert campus leadership.
May participate in the supervision of students’ externship experiences as assigned.
Complete required student records, attendance tracking, incident reports, and early alert logs.
Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to local healthcare facilities.
Participate in faculty meetings, advisory board meetings, in-service workshops, and campus graduations.
