Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation, special education, vocational education, social work, human services, education, organizational leadership, business, or a related field; or Associate degree plus two years of experience supporting people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD), employment services, workforce development, or community-based services; or Four years of progressively responsible experience in those areas.
  • Complete DD Module training and become certified by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, Developmental Disabilities Section, within your first 18 months of employment.
  • Satisfactory results on all required background checks.
  • Current, valid driver's license.

  • Knowledge of local employers, workforce systems, community resources, customized employment, and studio-based learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff in delivering person-centered, active support tied to each person's strengths, preferences, and Life & Career Plan.
  • Advance VTC's Beyond Services philosophy.
  • Shift staff focus from filling time to building skills, community belonging, and career opportunity.
  • Coordinate daily operations across employment, studio-based learning, community participation, volunteering, internships, and paid work experiences.
  • Build and maintain flexible staff schedules that match individual goals, support needs, transportation, and billing requirements.
  • Coach Career Pathway Coaches in discovery, skill-building, job coaching, and career advancement support.
  • Keep employment a visible, protected priority.
  • Track job development, employer relationships, placements, retention, and wage growth.
  • Build relationships with employers, schools, Vocational Rehabilitation, families, and community partners.
  • Conduct field observations, staff check-ins, coaching conversations, team huddles, and performance reviews.
  • Audit service documentation and billing records weekly for accuracy and compliance.
  • Watch for and immediately report any signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or health and safety concerns.
  • Manage staff time, attendance, and scheduling.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new staff.
