About The Position
The UMass Memorial Health Career P.A.T.H. (Professional Administrative Tracks in Health Care) Internship Program aims to provide college students with a structured learning experience to prepare them for success as administrative professionals in healthcare. Interns will be introduced to UMass Memorial's diverse experiences and career opportunities, and will network with other students interested in healthcare careers. Under direct supervision, the intern will perform various projects according to specific instructions and established work procedures, supporting management with project plans and related activities. This role is designed for an undergraduate college student.
Requirements
- Requires undergraduate college level student with an ability to work independently.
- Requires good communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office programs.
- Must be able to follow instructions and ask for assistance when needed.
- Must be willing to learn new skills.
- Ability to work well with public and staff, and as a team member.
Responsibilities
- Participates in one large project or multiple small projects while in student intern status.
- Receives project guidelines/instructions from management and delivers within the scope of their responsibility a finalized product.
- Participates in department activities as required and provides support as needed which may include analysis and research.
- Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
- Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
- Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
- Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
- Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
