About The Position

The UMass Memorial Career P.A.T.H. (Professional Administrative Tracks in Health Care) Internship Program aims to provide a structured learning experience for college students interested in developing a career in health care. This program introduces interns to UMass Memorial's diverse experiences and career opportunities, and allows them to network with peers. The program emphasizes that every job is important in patient care, and that everyone at UMass Memorial is a caregiver. The health system is the largest in Central Massachusetts, focused on patient care, academic excellence, and research.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well with public and staff, and as a team member.
  • Requires excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstration of emerging leadership skills.
  • Must be able to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Good research skills and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and produce high-quality work.
  • Must have good computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, perform a variety of projects or one large project in accordance with specific instructions and established work procedures.
  • Support management with project plans and related activities, potentially taking a lead role or working on a project-leading team.
  • Receive project guidelines from management and deliver a finalized product within the scope of responsibility.
  • Participate in department activities as required and provide support, which may include analysis and research.
