About The Position

TrinityRail Maintenance Services is hiring a Career Painter/Blaster for its Mobile Repair Traveling Team, based out of the Jonesboro, Arkansas hub. The role prepares railcar surfaces and applies exterior and interior paints, primers, coatings, and lining systems to specifications. Work includes surface preparation, blasting, spray and hand-held applications, mixing coating materials, maintaining painting equipment, and completing required paperwork. The position may also involve Prep Worker and blasting duties and requires travel up to 80% and extended schedules when necessary.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience.
• Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures.
• Ability to work in industrial environments indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift materials as required.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, blasting equipment, and fall protection.
• Railcar painting, lining, coating, or blasting experience.
• Experience applying interior railcar coatings or linings.
• Ability to travel up to 80% and work extended schedules when necessary.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare railcar surfaces for painting, coating, and lining, including cleaning, masking, and blasting.
• Apply exterior and interior primers, paints, coatings, and lining systems according to applicable specifications and procedures.
• Prepare, coat, and finish metal and other surfaces.
• Operate conventional and airless spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes.
• Mix and apply alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, urethane, zinc epoxies, and waterborne paint systems according to prescribed formulas.
• Adjust spray-gun nozzles and monitor paint flow and viscosity.
• Use a mill gauge and monitor pressure amounts.
• Clean paint lines and guns and perform preventive maintenance on painting equipment.
• Regulate temperature and air circulation in drying ovens.
• Perform duties of a Prep Worker and blasting duties as needed.
• Initiate and maintain applicable paperwork.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• Prepare materials, surfaces, and structures for coverage with paint, laminate, rubber, or other materials.
• Apply coatings to specifications and complete detailed special applications appropriate to the surface and final product requirements.
• Perform all Level 1 duties and above.
• Apply exterior coatings using spray and hand-held methods.
• Seal and bake final exterior coatings.
• Apply interior primer coats as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
