About The Position

If you are close to graduation or have graduated in the past two years, consider applying for Y-12’s CareerONE, engineering rotation and development, Program. This program is specifically designed to fast-track the technical and professional development of new graduates. This position involves temporary placement in, up to 3, different engineering groups within Mission Engineering at Y-12. Participants are given job tasks, rotational assignments, and special opportunities which allow the employee to gain Y-12 knowledge, cross-functional job experience, and valuable networking with the workforce and leadership. Each facet of an employee's development reinforces the technical competencies needed to operate and manage Y-12. This phase of the employee's technical development, which typically spans 1.5 years, allows the division to focus on expanding the employee's knowledge, skills, competencies, and interests. Following the completion of the CareerONE program, the employee will move to a home department for further growth and development. Employees will have opportunities to participate in a wide range of technical and professional development seminars, workshops, and lectures on technical engineering topics and other areas of interest. The majority of workshops will be led by Engineering and Y-12 site subject matter experts. Additionally, career and technical mentors are a key component of the program. Employees are able to draw from the career knowledge of seasoned employees to develop competencies and grow leadership capabilities. Previous CareerONE cohort members serve as mentors, offering new hires support and guidance over a one year phase of development. Experienced employees provide technical mentoring by supporting and guiding new employees during specific tasks, jobs, and project assignments. They demonstrate the how-to of a job.
