About The Position

Tallahassee State College is hiring a full-time, grant-funded Career Development Specialist assigned to Okaloosa Correctional Institution. The specialist provides services related to the Compass 100 Hybrid program and supplemental in-cell assignments, including cell-front instruction for eligible participants in restrictive housing, as directed by the Lead Educator. The role also supports pre-release employment and transition planning in coordination with facility staff and Pre-Release Employment Navigators.

Requirements

• An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma.
• Two years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, or corrections.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

• An associate’s degree and one year of experience in social services or corrections.

Responsibilities

• Administer and interpret assessments.
• Deliver the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum.
• Deliver other programs as determined by the Department.
• Maintain and provide documentation of services delivered.
• Report monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions using the Department-approved form, DC5-149 “Correctional Daily Attendance Roster.”
• Provide facility release officers with information about pre-release connections to community providers and employers for inmate release planning services.
• Assist Pre-Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre-release job searches, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.
• Provide cell-front instruction and supplemental in-cell assignments to eligible participants in restrictive housing, as directed by the Lead Educator.
