About The Position

This is a Graduate Assistant position within the Office of Career Development & Experiential Learning, focusing on Marketing & Communications and Career-Oriented Advising. The role involves supporting the promotion of career development programs and resources, creating marketing materials, managing social media, and assisting students and alumni with career readiness skills. Additionally, the assistant will contribute to the daily operations of the Career & Experiential Learning Lab, including greeting visitors, coordinating events, and maintaining the workspace.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a graduate degree program at Quinnipiac University.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, department, student group, or business.
  • Experience creating marketing, communication, or promotional materials using platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics, digital marketing strategies, or audience engagement techniques.
  • Experience with content creation including writing, photography, videography, or graphic design.
  • Experience working in higher education, student affairs, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule content across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns to increase student awareness and engagement with career resources.
  • Design digital and print promotional materials (flyers, presentations, newsletters).
  • Write content for emails, social media, website updates, and other communications.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop communication strategies.
  • Track, analyze, and report on marketing and engagement metrics.
  • Assist with content planning and maintain a marketing calendar.
  • Collect and highlight student, alumni, employer, and faculty success stories.
  • Support website content updates.
  • Conduct research on communication trends and best practices.
  • Assist with branding efforts.
  • Support photography, videography, and multimedia content creation.
  • Review and provide feedback on résumés, cover letters, and application materials.
  • Assist students with job and internship search strategies.
  • Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback.
  • Teach networking strategies and professional communication practices.
  • Guide students in identifying experiential learning opportunities.
  • Support drop-in advising hours and scheduled appointments.
  • Greet and assist walk-in visitors in the Career & Experiential Learning Lab.
  • Respond to student and alumni inquiries.
  • Support the coordination and execution of career workshops, employer visits, career fairs, and campus events.
  • Maintain an organized and student-friendly workspace.
  • Assist with resource development and career education materials.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support student engagement initiatives.
