About The Position

Natick Public Schools seeks a Career Counselor for Natick High School, starting August 24, 2026. Natick Public Schools serves approximately 5,300 students and is an innovative, supportive, and high-performing district. Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Massachusetts licensure as a School Counselor, Vocational Technical Coordinator, or in a related field.
  • At least five years of successful counseling, leadership or teaching experience at the high school level.
  • Experience in high school counseling, career development, or workforce coordination.
  • Familiarity with MyCAP implementation, Naviance/SCOIR, ASVAB Career Portal, and other career pathways tools.
  • Strong knowledge of career development, college admissions, workforce development, and post-secondary transition planning.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and coordinate large-scale events.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn new things quickly and maintain flexibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized career pathway planning for students, including interest assessments, career exploration tools, and counseling follow-up.
  • Assist students with job or internship searches, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and employment readiness.
  • Promote employment, internship, and community service opportunities to students via multiple communication streams.
  • Organize and administer the annual ASVAB test, including coordination with testing personnel, distribution of scores, and post-test career interpretation meetings.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly update the school’s College and Career Readiness and Post-Secondary websites.
  • Communicate with school-based stakeholders (school counselors, IEP case managers, METCO staff, administrators, etc.) and caregivers on behalf of students’ career readiness.
  • Advertise student employment and community service opportunities to students via multiple methods, including email, morning announcements, hallway televisions, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Supervise college admissions visits and manage military recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate with community stakeholders to maintain Natick High School’s Wall of Achievement.
  • Provide professional development to the School Counseling staff on career planning.
  • Design and deliver workshops, classroom lessons, and events related to post-secondary planning (e.g., resume workshops, financial aid sessions, etc.).
  • Provide specialized support on career planning for multilingual learners, first-generation college applicants, and students with disabilities; Coordinate with caregivers on such endeavors.
  • Explore, create, and promote partnerships with local universities to allow students to engage in dual enrollment and early college opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with community colleges and university partners for dual enrollment and CDEP opportunities.
  • Advertise programs, support student eligibility conversations, and facilitate applications and registration processes for dual enrollment and early college.
  • Maintain communication with partner institutions throughout the semester, monitor academic progress, and obtain final grades.
  • Explore the implementation of Innovation Academies and other career-focused opportunities at Natick High School.
  • Collaborate with workforce partners (e.g., MassHire, YouthWorks, Job Core, etc.) to develop and promote internship opportunities.
  • Manage the work study application process, including screening, placement support, and communication with employers.
  • Track and input quarterly/semester work study grades and monitor student work hours for credit.
  • Maintain employer partnerships and foster relationships with local businesses, trade organizations, and community service providers (Natick Service Council, Council on Aging, etc.) to foster student volunteer and employment opportunities.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise major career-readiness events, including annual job fairs and visits to trade expos.
  • Collaborate with the high school Transition Coordinator to create programming for the school community.
  • Organize, promote, and supervise career-focused field trips.
  • Develop an integrated MyCAP (My Career and Academic Plan) process for Natick High School and a capstone project in alignment with new DESE graduation requirements.
  • Work closely with school counselors, special education staff, the transition coordinator, administrators, and academic departments to integrate career development into schoolwide practice.
  • Coordinate in-house professional development related to career education (e.g., workforce development training, MassHire sessions, VR learning).
  • Attend relevant conferences, meetings, and professional learning to remain current in career development best practices.
  • Actively attend and participate in Job-a-Like and MassHire Youthworks partnership meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be asked to support other schoolwide testing efforts, including AP testing, MCAS testing, etc.
