About The Position

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator will work in the College and Career Readiness Center under the CCR Center Manager. This role is designed to assist students, 6th grade and older, who express interest in direct-to-career pathways or post-secondary vocational training. The incumbent will manage a caseload of students, guiding them in setting goals through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and ensuring they complete all necessary steps and prerequisite work to advance in their chosen career or vocational training. The CTE Coordinator will provide intensive one-on-one advising and will establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support student success. Familiarity with FAFSA, placement testing, vocational institution admissions, dual credit, and early/middle college opportunities is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Education or other relevant field, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
  • Three (3) years of experience
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
  • Pediatric/Adult CPR and First Aid Certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, students, visitors, co-workers and others

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a case load of students who want to pursue a career or technical education training
  • Sets Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound (S.M.A.R.T.) goals for students through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external partnerships relative to student goals
  • Works with students in middle school to provide career exploration in vocational careers
  • Works with students in high school to provide clear picture of prerequisites for chosen career or technical education training
  • Continues working with students post-secondary as they grow in their careers or continue their technical education training programs
  • Provides tools for students to overcome barriers
  • Conducts workshops in related areas as necessary
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance
